Defying ban on jallikattu, locals in Tamil Nadu conducted banned cock fight at Sembatti, near Coimbatore.
People in Tamil Nadu have rallied together against state and central governments and are raising their voice against oppression of their tradition, especially jallikattu. At many areas near Madurai, Salem and Coimbatore, jallikattu and rekla race (bull cart) were conducted defying the Supreme Court ban.
Banned cock fight was also conducted stating if there were any wrong measures with the traditional way, it should be rectified and regulated.
Sembatti, a location famous for cock fight for centuries conducted the event in front of a large group of spectators, only as a form of protest and claimed that if the bans are not lifted soon, they will have to defy it to save their tradition.
