Call to Action: Legalize Cockfighting Petition

The last legal cockfighting sports event in the Contiguous United States, aka the US Mainland which includes the 48 adjoining states plus Washington DC, was in August 2008 in the State of Louisiana.

Cockfighting is chicken farming and sports. A cockfighter is a chicken farmer and sportsman.

Gamecock chickens are hatched from the best gamecock eggs laid by the best healthy gamecock hens, bred to the best healthy gamecock roosters, and then raised well as the best healthy gamecock chicks to become the best healthy gamecock roosters and gamecock hens.

These gamecock chickens are strong and robust and agile. Some gamecock chickens can fly vertically 13 feet or 4 meters straight up when they want to roost for the night. Hence, gamecock chickens are the best specimen of domesticated chicken species which includes broilers and layers among other types of chickens.

The Sports of Cockfighting is legal in US Territories namely Puerto Rico, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands (which includes Saipan). These other two US territories might also have legal cockfighting sports – American Samoa and the United States Virgin Islands.

Cockfighting Sports has received special resolution in Hawaii as a Cultural Heritage, a first step towards legalization.

Legalize cockfighting in the United States

Cockfighting in the United States has been banned since 1978. It is time we stand up for our rights as American citizens! All the animal right’s groups see is the actual fighting. The groups do not see the passion that the men and women put into their birds! They spend countless hours and thousands of dollars getting the birds in tip top shape. The birds are not just yard pets, but to many they are a way of life. I would much rather my son be in the yard playing with roosters and hens, instead of dealing drugs on the street corner! The government is allowed to send our sons and daughters to war with no promise to come back, but we can’t do the same with our birds! PLEASE help legalize cockfighting in the United States!
