2016 World Slasher Cup 8-Cock Invitational Derby
By Rolando Luzong
“Only death will stop me”
– Ray Alexander (Stingray) of Alabama
He won the title in 1994 & 1995, but, Ray Alexander has been a permanent fixture of the World Slasher Cup since it began in 1964. He joined practically all the Slasher events for the last 50 years.
Now at more than 80 years of age, Alexander was asked by renowned Philippine sabong media practitioner Rolando Luzong, during a visit at the Ray’s Stingray Gamefarm in Alabama, USA last October about when he will stop joining the World Slasher Cup, Alexander’s quick reply was “Only death will stop me”.
Promising to be the biggest ever, the 2016 World Slasher Cup-1 8-Cock Invitational Derby regarded as the “Olympics of Cockfighting”, on January 30 – February 7, 2016.
Again, there will be three separate 2-cock elimination days on January 30 & 31 and February 1, when each entry will be fighting two roosters each.
The 2-cock semi-finals are set on Feb. 2, 3 & 4, wherein all the entries may continue to fight including those with two losses in the elims.
There will be a one-day break in hostilities on Feb. 5, as the qulaifiers prepare for the finals.
On Feb. 6, those with scores of 2, 2.5 and 3 points, will slug it in the 4-cock pre-finals, although, this is equally important because, if any 3 pointer will win all its assigned matches, it may eventually win the crown if no one in the grand finals will be able to score perfectly.
The 4-cock grand finals take center stage on Feb. 7 wherein all undefeated entries with scores of 3.5 or 4 points will lock horns for the championship.
Entry fee is pegged at P88,000.00, with a minimum bet requirement P33,000.00
Sponsors are Thunderbird Platinum and Thunderbird Bexan XP.
