GUAM – For the first time in over a decade, the Cockpit Licensing Board will be holding its first official meeting. According to Rev and Tax, the Cockpit Licensing Board regulates the laws that governs cockfighting. Specifically, the board issues licenses, handles the bid processes, establishes regulations relative to fees and puts together an annual report of licenses issues, terminated and currently active.
“Right now the law authorizes three different cockpits on the island- the northern, the southern, and the central, so I think that is something the board will be looking at moving forward addressing these issues” Rev and Tax director John Camacho stated.
According to its rules and regulations, two members constitute a quorum. Currently on the board are Donald Taitano and Thomas Tanaka Jr. Rev and Tax director John Camacho will serve as the executive secretary. No agenda has been set and will most likely be an introductory meeting with the possible election of a chairman. The board meeting is set for Wednesday at 2pm in the DRT director’s conference room.
