How To Breed Early Gameness In Gamecock (aka Complete Gameness)?

These three statements were first published in We Got the Best Combat Sports.

Gameness is the will and the action to destroy the other.

Gamecocks are bitter and game to the core.

Gamecocks are true combatants.

This statement is first published in Cockfighting – Sports and Lifestyle.

Chicks may fight as early as a day old. 😉

This statement is first published in The Best Chick Cockfighting I Witnessed.

It seems the two male chicks have choreographed and synchronized their fight – the longest synchronized shuffle of all time for me.

The two male chicks do not have feathers on their backs and breast yet. Just their wing feathers have grown and not green anymore. About two weeks of age.

Gamecock Chick Gameness

Gamecock chicks’ aggressiveness is less understood. It is both genotype and phenotype. Thus, it is in the genes, meaning, it is hereditary.

Like any other genes, you can also select for gameness gene/s. But we do not know what really are the gameness gene/s. Thus, we select thru the phenotype of their fighting and behavior towards another male chicken.

Late Gameness

You may breed and select only for genes of chicks that are passive and not aggressive to each other.

Until they turn 7-8 months old, when they become a little aggressive to each other.

Some will not be totally aggressive until they turn 2 years old.

Early Gameness

Thus, the strain of gamecock with earliest gameness will be the ones that will fight to death as early as day old.

Naked Heel Strain of Gamecock: Do Chicks Fight

Not all naked heel strains of gamecock fight when they are young.

If they are selected for early gameness they will be fighting each other even on vast free range.

If they are selected for late gameness they will NOT be fighting each other even on small enclosed pen.

Steel Strain of Gamecock: Do Chicks Fight

Not all steel strains of gamecock fight when they are young.

If they are selected for early gameness they will be fighting each other even on vast free range.

If they are selected for late gameness they will NOT be fighting each other even on small enclosed pen.

Complete Gameness of Gamecock Strain

If you value gameness in your strain of gamecocks,

  • you have to breed for early maturing strains of gamecocks (at 4.5 months old will fight to the death against older rooster)
  • and select for early gameness of chicks.

Your strain of gamecock will have complete gameness.

If you mass produced,

  • you STILL have to breed for early maturing strains of gamecocks (at 4.5 months old will fight to the death against older rooster)
  • BUT select for late gameness of chicks.

Isolation of fighting chicks become difficult in large population of chicks. Your strain of gamecock will be lacking the complete gameness in their genes as you selected for late gameness.

Remember, accurate deadly blow is what wins the game.

Maybe, this should have a title of “How To Breed COMPLETE Gameness In Gamecock”.
