World Slasher-2 unwraps tomorrow

MANILA, Philippines – With a perfect 8-0 showing in the 2011 World Slasher Cup 1 last January, Patrick Antonio’s Sagupaan B-50 is the entry to watch in the World Slasher Cup-2 Eight-Cock Invitational Derby which unwraps tomorrow at the Araneta Coliseum.

Antonio looks to become the first gamefowl breeder to score back-to-back World Slasher Cup conquest since Peping Ricafort achieved the feat in 2000 with his PTK Yucatan.

The 2011 World Slasher Cup-2, hosted by the Pintakasi of Champions and presented by B-MEG Derby Ace with Thunderbird Enertone as major sponsor, has drawn more than 180 foreign and local entries.

Among foreign sportsmen challenging Antonio are Americans Roger Roberts, Ray Alexander, Kali Casco, Sedfrey Linsangan, Jorge Goitia, Zosimo Antivo, Clarence Perkins, Carol Nesthmith, Jorge Torres, Zaldy Sandoval, Jason Campbell, Bill McNatt, Chris Casilan, Jeff Hudspeth, Randy Hall, Tyrone Kennedy, Mike Formosa, Taiwanese Tony Ang and Aussies Gerard Inmam and Peter Uren.

The derby starts with the two-cock eliminations tomorrow and Tuesday, the two-cock semifinals Wednesday and Thursday and the four-cock finals Saturday and Sunday.

The event was formally launched at the Gateway Suites in Gateway Mall at the Araneta Center in Cubao, Quezon City yesterday.

MANILA, Philippines – The World Slasher Cup-2, 8-Cock Invitational Derby gets going June 6 with a power-packed international cast fielding in their top-notch entries in the week-long event at the Araneta Coliseum.

B-Meg Derby Ace will be presentor of the bi-annual event dubbed as the world series of cockfighting with the Pintakasi of Champions as host.

The event, which ends June 12, is sponsored by Thunderbird Enertone and will be launched on Saturday at the Gateway Suites at the Araneta Center.

One hundred eight of the best roosters will be fielded in by top-caliber breeders and cockfighters from more than five countries, including Hawaii.

Patrick Antonio, the solo champion in January’s World Slasher-1, is again expected to show up with the aces from Joey Salangsang of Gen. Santos City together with 2010 WSC-2 solo champion Art de Castro and Eddie Aparri.

The two-cock elims will be held June 6 for the first set with the second batch slugging it out on June 7.

The two-cock semis for Group A is set June 8, while Group B meets on June 9. The four-cock finals for Group A is on June 11 and on June 12 for Group B.
